Tell us a little bit about your label (art) and what you do?
My name is Kristy and I’m a Indigenous Jewellery Designer from Newtown In Sydney’s Inner West. My Jewellery range is called ‘Haus of Dizzy’ which consists of Bright and bold statement jewellery. My Jewellery is all about making a statement and feeling confident to break away from mainstream fashion. I want my customer to wear my jewellery and feel happy, confident and fancy.
What inspires your work?
I live on King St in Newtown, I’m inspired every day as I step out of my apartment and onto King st. The Inner Westies definitely have their own unique style and a love for their hood and I like to represent that in my jewellery. Whether it being my ‘Inner West Side earrings’ or My ‘Stay Weird’ Earrings, It all comes back to expressing my love for the Inner West. My Mother was also fancy AF and I definitely get all my style from her. She loved to accessorise and I draw a lot of inspiration from her 80’s and 90’s outfits.
What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
I have always worked in Retail stores. I have also had my fair share of acting, modelling and waitressing.
What memorable responses have you had to your work?
I had a older lady recently buy some of my Fancy A.F earrings and said she couldn’t wait to wear them to Bingo! lol that’s pretty memorable…
One thing you can’t live without?
My Pliers.
What gets you up in the morning?
My Mother sadly committed suicide in 99’ my life was never the same. She loved everything I created, so I wake up every morning and strive to do my very best and know that she is looking down at me and hopefully very proud of what I have achieved.
How would your best friend describe you in 3 words?
Creative, kind and a clown…
What is the next skill you want to learn?
Being more business savvy.
What is your dream project?
To own my own store!!!!
Favourite or most inspirational place in Sydney?
Camperdown Park.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Don’t compare yourself to others because thats when you start to lose confidence in yourself.
What advice would you give to new, aspiring Makers?
Go for it! There is nothing better than seeing something you have created on someone wearing it with pride.

Material Girl… Madonna. :/
