As part of Work-shop Makery’s programme of activities and events on the theme of Upcycling in the month of June, we are delighted to have Miss Helen presenting an upcycling weaving class!

In this class we will be weaving a floor rug, perfect for use in your bathroom or kitchen, or as a welcome doormat. Using upcycled materials we will repurpose old clothing, bed linen and fabric offcuts to create a hardy and unique floor mat.

Maaike from Furniture Resurrection and Work-Shop Makery’s very own Maple Rose will be kindly donating fabric offcuts to use in this class too – which will help make your pieces extra special.

What you'll get

You will learn techniques to turn a tshirt into a continuous ball of yarn, as well as how to use anything as a weaving loom (a great skill to have in case of an apocalypse).

what to bring

We will be supplying materials, but we welcome you to bring anything along that you may like to weave with to help create a more personalised rug.

Things that you may have lying around the home that will work: old pantyhose, mens ties, plastic bags, fabric off cuts, old tshirts, scarves, ribbons, tea towels, pillowcases, bed sheets, curtains…the ideas are endless!
