Type That Talks

This workshop is hands-on, guiding you step-by-step through the hand lettering process. From concept, to composition, to producing a finished piece, we will look at how employing different styles can add to the message you’re trying to communicate.

The majority of the workshop will be centered around creating and refining a single piece, so come armed with a single word or short phrase that you would like to hand letter! When choosing your words, keep a particular theme or mood in mind as we will be concentrating on conveying meaning through type – not just your words, but with the letters themselves.

As you develop and refine your piece you will be working with pens and pencils (feel free to bring along any tools you might like to experiment with), however during the workshop we will move to chalk, and at the end of the day you will have your very own hand-lettered blackboard to take home and continue practicing! All are welcome!
