One day. One tote. One backpack. All yours.
This isn’t your average sewing class. It’s a premium workshop featuring exclusive kits from Portland’s cult-favourite brand Klum House, the queens of bag making. Whether you’ve seen their kits online, or have just been dreaming of making something truly built to last, this is your chance to dive in, tools and all.
In this one-day intensive, you’ll create the Maywood: a heavy-duty oilskin backpack that cleverly converts into a tote. Think: the bag for any occasion, commuter chic meets urban survival gear. These babies are loaded with professional finishes, chunky zips, leather handles, and gold-standard hardware.
You’ll be guided by the incredible Jeni; a fabric-smith, maker and bag whisperer, who will show you how to wrestle hardware, tame thick fabrics, and build a piece that’s as practical as it is good-looking.
Spots are limited and the kits are hard to get in Australia, so this is a rare chance to get your hands on the real deal. No prior bagmaking experience required, just a bit of curiosity and a healthy appreciation for excellent bags.
What You’ll Learn:
- Pattern reading for bags (it’s different to garments!)
- Working with oilskin, leather, and pro-grade hardware
- Zipper installs, lining techniques, rivets and reinforcement
- Confident machine-sewing with heavy-duty fabrics
