Our unconscious is full of odd stuff just dying to be paid attention; sometimes funny, sometimes weird, but always worth a visit!

Come on an adventure into the surreal world of Spanish artist Iria do Castelo in this three-hour illustration workshop.

Working from a selection of reference images, you’ll learn about the basic notions of composition, rhythm, structure and movement, before moving on to combine, distort and manipulate these images to achieve surreal results.

Though a process of experimentation, you’ll learn how to reinterpret common everyday objects, combining and distorting them to create new characters.

Working with graphite and charcoal, Iria will demonstrate various linework and rendering techniques which can be used to achieve different results. You’ll produce a series of preliminary sketches of your own unique characters, as well as one finalised drawing to take home.

Whether you’re an artist looking for new sources of inspiration, or just looking to try something a little fun, this workshop will get you looking at the world from a whole different perspective – one that is equally weird, and wonderful.
