Immerse yourself in this relaxing and reflective art of Japanese paper marbling. Marbling is a traditional Japanese artform which dates back to the 12th century. Floating inks are used to create colourful patterns on the surface of water and then transferred to paper, leaving you with a unique abstract pattern.
During the workshop you will connect to stillness and presence as you tap into the source of your creativity. We will experiment with different paper stocks and textures as the inks behave differently depending on the paper’s absorbency. You will be shown how to manipulate the whisps and swirls of the ink so you achieve your desired pattern.
What you'll get
- We will provide a selection of paper, the inks, manipulation tools and trays.
what to bring
- Please feel free to bring along your own stationery to marble. We would recommend bringing along letter writing sets (envelopes and notepaper) or other absorbant papers
