Wooden it be nice if you could cause a stir with your own hand-carved spoon? As luck wood have it, we’ve snagged xylophile Alma to teach you the finer points of this age-old craft. First, we’ll cover types of wood, tools and equipment required, and the techniques used for cutting wood. Then we’ll use the spoon gouge to carve the bowl of the spoon, working up to designing and shaping the handle and spoon top. And as all wood things must come to an end, we’ll sand and complete our new utensils with an all-natural finish.
This class pairs traditional techniques with the use of basic power tools, and will equip you with the skills to select the right wood and carve a spoon fit to elope with a dish. Prove that kid from The Matrix wrong. The spooner, the better.
