An introductory course in carving soapstone, this course will give participants a chance to create a small soapstone sculpture of their own. Soapstone is a soft, easily carved stone with beautiful patterns and available in a variety of colours.

Participants will be shown how to shape and refine using hand tools, then polish and wax, to create the finished product. The final polishing is always a wonderful surprise as that reveals the beautiful colours and texture hidden within the stone.
