Intro to Leathercraft – Make a Phone Case

Learn classic leather working skills and make your own leather phone sleeve in this 3 hour, project-based leathercraft for beginners workshop with leather crafter & designer Katie Engelhardt from Studio Liebling.

Using locally sourced, Australian veg tanned leather and colourful Kangaroo leather, you will customise a pattern to suit your phone size, learn the traditional technique of saddle-stitching and choose from some pretty ace leather and thread colours to further personalise your very own snazzy leather smart-phone sleeve!

Along the way you will also gain some insight into the different types of leather, its structure and layers, find out the difference between “full-grain” and “genuine” leather, how to properly care for your leather items and a little about the local leather industry and practices.

A fun, skills-based workshop suitable for the absolute beginner up to those wanting to expand their leather-crafting skills. Leather, materials and taools to use on the day will be supplied.
