In this 3-hour class you’ll learn the basic skills needed to create expressive lettering using a brush. We’ll begin by exploring calligraphic principles using a Tombow brush pen, learning how to create letters from a series of strokes.
Then using a round brush we’ll explore experimental styles and other techniques, encouraging you to find your own unique style.
Along the way we’ll also discuss elements of composition such as hierarchy, rhythm, and spacing, so you can leave with the skills to start creating your own brush lettering pieces.

Participants will take home a pen and brush used on the day, along with worksheets developed to help you further your practice at home.
what to bring
- Please bring along a word or phrase you would like to letter. Also we may be getting a little messy with ink, so dress with this in mind!
