Learn basic leathercraft skills and make your own leather card wallet in this 2.5 hour, project based workshop with leather worker & designer Katie Engelhardt from Studio Liebling.
With a focus on the traditional method of saddle-stitching, Katie will guide you through this sturdy leather sewing technique as you create your own 3 pocket leather card wallet that will be super-tough, totally compact & handy, and very, very good-looking!
Using locally sourced, Australian veg tanned leather and waxed thread (in a delicious choice of colours!) and getting familiar with leather hand-tools and techniques, this workshop will take you through the project from start to finish and you will go home with a finished piece that will keep your cards and cash safe for many years to come.
Along the way you will also gain some insight into the different types of leather, its structure and layers, find out the difference between “full-grain” and “genuine” leather, learn how to properly care for your leather items and little about the local leather industry and practices.
Suitable for beginners and those wanting to expand their leather-working skills or work on their stitching technique, this workshop will be fun, educational and rewarding!
