Have you ever been left wondering exactly what is in the food you’re eating, but haven’t gotten around to figuring it all out yet? Food labels exist to tell us what is in the product’s we buy, but often they are more confusing than they are informative!

This class with food labelling specialist Belinda Hanson-Kenney will provide you with the skills and knowledge to read and understand all the information that is on a food package – an understanding of the specific language used, what legally has to be on a food package, what is put there to ‘confuse’ you into buying a product, what parts are just marketing hype, and where to go if you have more questions about a product. We will also discuss allergens and allergen labelling, and food claims.

After you are armed with all the knowledge you need, Belinda will help you decipher the labels of some products in your everyday pantry.
