This is a lecture-style workshop for designers, letterers and illustrators who want to work with letterpress.
In this 1.5 hour class we will cover:
- A brief history of printing, type, typesetting and Gutenberg’s letterpress and how it has evolved and thrived in the digital age.
- Hand-drawn illustrations and lettering, digital type and how they work best in letterpress.
- Papers, inks, foils and similar processes such as embossing (you’ll go home knowing your deboss from your emboss).
- Ink-mixing Pantones from scratch.
A letterpress demonstration (with audience participation) will show the process in detail from finished art, to finished print.
You’ll walk away feeling confident about your next big project with a greater understanding of the letterpress process.
What you'll get
A Designing For Letterpress ‘Cheat Sheet’ (letterpress printed, naturally)
A letterpress gift pack for all students.
