This class is designed as a follow up for those who have attended my introductory class, or anyone who has learned the basic stitches and is ready to use them to make their first project. The stitches that you will need to know to make the projects we’ll be working on are:
- Chain stitch
- Double Crochet (Single Crochet in US)
- Treble Stitch (Double Crochet in US)
- Slip stitch
If you are a little rusty with any of these that’s fine, I’ll be demonstrating each stitch again as we work through the project, however you will need to have given these stitches a go before coming to the class.
What you'll get
This class will focus on making projects that start with a central circle, as opposed to the straight rows that we worked on in the beginners level 1 class. First you will learn how to make crochet flowers, and after working on that for the first 30-45 minutes, you will choose to work on either a granny square or a circle bag. The granny squares can be stitched together to make blankets bags, shawls and cushions. We will only have time to work on one side of the bag in class, but you will take the pattern home to continue the other side and the strap. I will bring printed out versions of the patterns so that you can learn to read and work to a crochet pattern.
what to bring
As this course is more project based, please bring along materials you would like to work with:
Please bring along one 8 ply skein of yarn (50-100g).
(If you would like to work with multiple colours, please bring 2 -3 extra colours for the project we’ll be making).
Please bring along a crochet hook – the project/pattern we are working on will require a 4.5mm hook.
Alternatively, we can provide you with hooks and yarn for an additional small fee – just let us know in advance. Contact: kylie@work-shop.com.au
