In this workshop, motor mechanic Ivan will walk you through the essentials of car care; helping you reduce trips to the mechanic and giving you the confidence to talk shop without getting ripped off.
Across the day, you’ll learn to identify key parts of your car (inside and out), check and top up essential fluids, and handle tyres, wheels, batteries and lights. Ivan will also cover car ownership basics like logbook servicing, what to look out for when buying your first car, and how to budget for ongoing costs. You’ll get plenty of hands-on experience, from using tools safely to changing a wheel and even jump-starting a car. The session finishes with practical tips on how to describe faults, ask the right questions, and understand quotes when dealing with mechanics, so you’re in the driver’s seat when it comes to your car’s care.
A car will be brought in for a full demo, and you’ll get your hands dirty poking around its insides. This extensive workshop is designed for absolute novices and will demystify your car’s inner workings.
