Intro to Stencil Art

Become the next Banksy, channel C215 and give Blek le Rat a run for his money with this stencil workshop presented by seasoned Melbourne street artist Caper. Stencilling is one of the fundamental forms of street art, a multifaceted medium embodying drawing, design, painting, and printmaking, and can be applied to virtually any surface. Stencils can be super simple or ultra complex, they’re endlessly customisable and entirely individual – it’s all up to you.

You’ll learn how to cut and paint your own multi-layered stencils to create depth and detail in your design, along with the best methods for specialised cutting and spraying. Caper will outline (pun intended) stencil essentials which you’ll use to create your own original stencil design. He’ll then cover spraying techniques, followed by a freestyle session for you to let loose your creativity on the Work-Shop walls and perfect your street art style. You’ll leave with your own canvas masterpiece and be ready to plaster your motif in the wild.
