In this 3 hour workshop with Graphic Artist and Founder of The Zingy Studio, Miranda Sims, you’ll learn a range of drawing and painting techniques suitable for creating truly striking and unique portraits.
You are encouraged to be experimental in how you choose to express your representation of either yourself or someone else with the materials provided. Experimenting with a range of mediums and colours, you’ll learn new ways to and express the identity, characteristics and stories of your subject.
Initially you will be shown a range of techniques and tools for applying acrylic paint, high pigment inks, and coloured pastels. This part of the session will enable you to experiment with these mediums to explore the principles of mixing colours, mark making and the basics of facial proportions. You will create a finished mixed media portrait using your favourite mediums on a premium heavyweight watercolour paper. This surface will be ideal for mounting in a frame at a later stage if you wish.
This workshop is suitable for everyone from complete beginners through to experienced artists, and is a great way to explore and extend your skills using a range of easy to work with mediums and colours.
