Learn to Crochet! This introductory class covers the basic stitches that you need to get started with this funky craft, so that you can make retro blankets, clothing, plant hangers and more! Crochet is extremely versatile, and once you have learned the basic stitches taught in this class, you will have the skills to begin making your own projects at home.

What you'll get

In this class you will learn to chain, slip, double crochet and treble stitch, which are all the stitches you need to get started. You will also learn about crochet patterns and terminology.

Each student will be provided with a small skein of yarn and a crochet hook.

About Laura Taylor

Laura is a knitting and crochet enthusiast with a passion for design and colour. She completed her Honours in Fine Art at COFA, majoring in painting, however spends most of her time tangled in yarn these days! She learned to crochet as a kid, but didn’t really get into it until about 3 years ago, and she now makes crochet and knitting patterns.

While she loves knitting, crochet is her favourite to teach, as she sees it as more of a misunderstood and underrated skill. You can create all the beautiful things that can be knitted with crochet, like sweaters, beanies, mittens, scarves and toys, as well as the more traditional crochet designs, like ‘granny square’ blankets, ponchos and circular designs. Laura hopes that by teaching new students, they can pass these skills onto their children and grandchildren, so that these skills are not lost!
