Car Maintenance Crash Course

Gun your engines: let’s torque about car maintenance. If you want to maintain your wheels but don’t know the difference between a carburetor and a cylinder, you’ve come to the right place. In this class, motor mechanic Ivan will teach you how to care for your ride and reduce trips to the mechanic, and how to confidently discuss your car’s service and repair requirements with mechanics. Never get ripped off again. We’ll have a car onsite for a full demo and you’ll get your hands dirty poking around its insides.

This is an extensive workshop for absolute novices, and will cover:

• Vehicle components and identification

• Battery and charging system/understanding symptoms

• Tyres / changing them / tyre sizes / wheel alignments / pressures

• Preventative maintenance

• Buying and selling vehicles/tips and tricks/resources availability

• Talk the talk – learn the mechanics’ vocabulary

• Logbook servicing

• Raising the vehicle bonnet

• Replacing wiper inserts

• Vehicle operators manual

• Air conditioner re-gas

• Seat belts/child restraints

• Ancap star ratings

• Fluid top-ups
